#GivingTuesday

Tuesday, December 1st is Giving Tuesday--Americans’ anointed day to repent their self-abasement at the altar of capitalism by donating to charities, all from under the comfort of the new weighted blankets they bought on Black Friday.

We at So Say We All love our weighted blankets. We’re tortured writers! They keep our bad thoughts out and our num-num feelings in. But even the infantilizing comfort they provide during these chilly months cannot stop us from remembering every ugly thing 2020 has laid bare about our society. And while we’d love to believe the worst is over, we’ve seen too many horror movies to believe the monster in the room is really dead.

You know what else isn’t dead? Publishing.

That’s why this Giving Tuesday, we’re setting a goal of raising $5,000 dollars to underwrite a brand new edition of our Black Candies horror anthology by black and indigenous writers of color (BIPOC). Horror is so much more than a fun escapist genre; it’s a powerful way to share our fears and experiences in a way that can be universally understood. Publishing isn’t cheap though, and there’s no other sources of funding at our disposal to pay for it besides direct support from people like you.

Will you help us reach our goal of $5,000 to make our next Black Candies anthology possible? Just go to https://sosayweall.wildapricot.org/donate and donate whatever you’re comfortable with. Anyone who supports us during our 4-day #GivingTuesday fundraiser will have their name credited in the finished published volume as a supporter without whom the project would not have been possible!

Thank you for helping us make San Diego a city we want to live and make art in, and happy holidays!
